Ivy Dalton

Tall-yet-true tales from the West Virginia woods.

Ivy Dalton is a West Virginian author with a love of hot tea, good books, homemade bread, cut-flower gardening, reading her Bible, being with friends, and adventuring barefoot in the woods around her state — her favorite place on planet earth.

She writes what she calls “tall-yet-true tales” — meaning stories that are fictional, but ones that have purpose, contain good morals, and encourage Christians.

Ivy Dalton is a member of The Tangent Guild, has been published in the short story anthology, Ashes For Another, is the author of the illustrated children’s book The Magic in the Woodlands, and is busy working on several other writing projects for children, teens, and — ultimately — families.

She hopes to become a wife, a mother, and a missionary in the next couple of years — though she will always (always) have a place in her heart for writing and for literature.

The Guild

Led by Ann Weaver, the group formed in November of 2025 and published their first anthology, Ashes For Another, in June 2026.

They plan on launching their second in early 2027.

In the meantime, the group — scattered around the globe — is busy working on their own separate writing projects, hobbies, and schooling.

The name

Why are we called The Tangent Guild?

First,

our group is prone to going off on random tangents — when on video calls, in our group chat, or anywhere else we happen to meet up.

Second,

all of our authors are from a Christian background, and all Christians are in part “on a tangent” — meaning that they are different — because they are followers of Christ.
